Improved Vinyl Siding Brings Even More Energy Efficiency
IndyStyle.tv recently filmed a feature on innovations in vinyl siding. There have been notable improvements in product offerings as companies look to improve energy efficiency, and vinyl siding is no exception.
According to the news source, manufacturers have begun implementing a layer of foam underneath the siding which can improve insulation by up to 17 percent. This added protection also brings with it noise reduction and an astounding 300 percent improved impact resistance.
Where house exteriors were once vulnerable to rust, cracking and peeling, vinyl siding makes rigorous maintenance a thing of the past. It only need to be cleaned once or twice a year and even then requires little more than soap and water.
The Department of Energy is aggressively encouraging homeowners to make improvements to their home's eco-friendliness. In addition to rebates for improvements to their heating, air conditioning and windows, those who properly insulate their homes are eligible for up to $500 in tax credits.
