Vinyl Siding Helps Historic Home Weather The Elements
Many people frown on the look that comes with installing vinyl siding, but this option may be well worth it to homeowners who intend to preserve their house for generations to come. Recently, a new property owner decided to restore a Victorian home created in the 1800s. To his surprise, it was in a reasonable condition as a result of the siding, according to the Florida Times-Union.
Mike Jacobus knew the home needed extensive renovations when he purchased it, but he was more than excited to make the alterations to restore the house to its former glory.
"The condition of the house was not very good," Clinton Pearson, the attorney who sold the property to Jacobus, told the news source. "It really needed a lot done to it, but it's a beautiful house."
In the 1960s, the former owner attempted to make alterations of her own, including the installation of vinyl siding. Although it made the house an eyesore, it helped it weather the elements for more than 50 years.
Today, homeowners have many options when it comes to vinyl siding. Energy-efficient siding now comes in a variety of colors to match the decor of any home.
